Born from emptiness: Birth of the night

In the fire of the sunset,
the day dies
for the night to be born

A quiet winter evening in a swampy area. The sun sinks behind the trees and shrubs and flashes for a moment when a cloud band dissolves. The night is born from the day that died.

‘Birth of the night’ is a photo in the series ‘Born from emptiness’, part of the gallery ‘Untouched land‘.

I made this photo in nature reserve Overasseltse & Hatertse Vennen, close to my former hometown Nijmegen in The Netherlands.
It is a small but beautiful nature reserve, a landscape of fens, small groups of trees, heather and grassland.
