The sea and the sky above it. Mirrors of each other’s soul, in the infinite fused into an ever-lasting kiss…
‘Eternal kiss’ is a photo in the series ‘The language of sea and sky’, part of the gallery ‘Eternal sea‘.
The series is made on the beach of the North Sea between the towns Agger and Hanstholm, in the winter of 2015-2016. The beach and hinterland of this entire part of the coast of Jutland, belong to the nature reserve National Park Thy.
In a series of 10 photos, I ‘paint’ some of the words that the sea and sky speak to each other: the language of sea and sky.
This part of coast of Denmark is the main source of inspiration for this project, but also the beautiful words of the Indian poet and writer Rabindranath Tagore [Stray Birds, 1916]:
What language is thine, O sea?
The language of eternal question.
What language is thy answer, O sky?
The language of eternal silence.
