Colonnade of the Giants: Lost Sunlight

Now the day is over, dark
silence rises from the moss
while the last sunlight is
lost between the trees.

When you walk through a dense forest late in the afternoon on a heavily cloudy gray winter day, there is actually too little light to take a picture. At least, a sharp photo. Because if you ‘give’ the camera permission to bundle the tiny pixels that provide sharpness into coarser grains, you can make a photo without any problems.

I love those coarser grains that occur in such situations. They perfectly reflect the atmosphere you feel at such a moment. The falling darkness, details fade, dark shapes seem bigger, in the distance objects merge into a silent palette of shades of gray…

‘Lost Sunlight’ is a new photo in the series ‘Colonnade of the giants’, part of the gallery ‘Enchanted forests‘.
