A series of photos I made on the coast that I have fallen in love with years ago: deserted beaches, almost always a strong west wind, sometimes a fierce storm. The sunsets over the North Sea in autumn and winter are famous for their magical Nordic color palette: a fascinating monologue of the sun from the first to the last second.

A wild farewell to the day,
and on the waiting beach,
the evening comes ashore
The sea washes the colors of the setting sun on to the shore.
Soon, the colors of this day will have disappeared.
Waves arrive in silence
light shatters into darkness
the night opens her eyes
Dreams awaken, in silence
they gather and fly hastily
on the dying sunlight’s feathers
into the darkness of the empty night
The waves sing softly
their lullaby on the shore,
the evening sky responds in colors
when the night enfolds the sun.
Slowly the sun descends to the horizon,
colors the sea and the sky for the last time this day.
A finale like never before seen,
which can only be surpassed by the colors of a bright new day.
a last song of light
vanishes beyond the silence
The balmy breathings
of the evening sun
drape her colors over the sea,
like a satin sheet
The wind puts her head
on the pillow of waves
and falls asleep under the
silk sheet of the setting sun
